You may not know this but we live and work in Houston, Texas. Last month, Hurricane Ike came through and left damage and turmoil behind. My office and home were both without electricity, internet or phone and in need of some minor repairs.
During this time, after going mildly stir crazy, I picked through many of the books that I’ve received over the past few months.
I picked up a book that came highly recommended by a colleague. And after a few chapters I was hooked. I read by candle light. The words catapulted me into another world.
In true Dana fashion, I talked aloud to the characters and wondered: What other books have caused me to step outside my comfort zone?
Now, I must issue a minor caveat. This question emerged after reading a book about a young man who continually struggled with his sexual identity, drug addictions and much more. And honestly, it opened Pandora’s Box because I then began to consider past books and what made them all so memorable.
As a result, I’d like to turn the tables. And I’ll ask you all the same. What book(s) caused you to step outside your comfort zone?
The MPire: Death Cometh, the second installment of The MPire Trilogy is due for release on November 8, 2008. We get author TL James on the hot seat. In another one-on-one interview with Dana.
